Filasṭīn

Filasṭīn (Palestine) is a historic region located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea in southern Bilād al-Shām. Bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, the Jordan Valley to the east, Lebanon to the north, and the Sinai Peninsula to the south, it has occupied a strategic position at the intersection of Africa, Asia, and the broader Near East. Throughout antiquity, Palestine served as a crossroads of trade, migration, and imperial expansion, coming under the rule of successive civilizations including the Canaanites, Israelites, Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. Owing to its geographical location and religious significance, the region became one of the most important centers of sacred history in the Abrahamic traditions.
